My book “Toward Graphic Belles Lettres”  is sold out.  But here is one of its stories :

“BEHEST WITH 5 FINGERS”

This title was inspired by the 1928 classic horror strory “The Beast With Five Fingers” by William Fryer Harvey.  Harvey’s tale was about a hand after it was severed from a body.  Our story, conversely, is about a body before it is severed from a hand.  Such mere details notwithstanding, “Behest With 5 Fingers” was named in homage to a giant of the genre.

We fail to see how a venerable figure like Freud fits into the quotidian trivia of modern life — things like getting a paper cut from one’s air enabled printer, or suddenly running out of toner. Namely, homey picayune distractions the reader can relate to!

And that sketch of Sigmund Freud looks like an example of the misshapen oeuvre of Lucien Freud
