NEW YORKER CARTOON REJECT #5

Mr Tilley regrets …

The so-called artist no doubt considers this offering au courant, with its barely recognizable caricature of what we take to be the (world’s richest) man of the hour.

The reference to Mrs Kramden, however, dispels any pretense of modernity. It Is felt to be too recondite for our present readership — young, vital, up-to-the-minute, and disinclined to delve into superannuated TV sitcoms that aired before they were born.
